The Board of National ICT Australia (NICTA) has announced the appointment of David Skellern to the position of CEO for a twelve month period.
Skellern has been Interim CEO of NICTA since Mel Slater's departure in May 2005.
NICTA chairman Neville Stevens said Skellern has already shown "great leadership and commitment to NICTA's vision."
"David brings exceptional experience to the position," he said.
" A highly successful university researcher, David has also brought research to the market, jointly managed a successful start-up company, Radiata, and worked for a leading multi-national ICT company both in Australia and the US."
NICTA is in the process of finalizing a strategic planning program that is also part of a broader plan for the entire organization.
Commenting on his appointment, Skellern said that being part of NICTA is a "terrific opportunity to make a real difference."
"I am delighted to be part of a leadership team with great vision and strength and look forward to working with the team to deliver national benefit from NICTA's research projects and research training," he said.
The Board will review the position in the new year.
