Integ wins IP telephony contracts with Manchester Unity and Mission Australia

Contract wins highlight the rapid IP uptake amongst mid- sized Australian organisations

Sydney, 25 July 2005: Leading Australian voice and data company Integ has won contracts to provide IP telephony networks and unified communications to Manchester Unity and Mission Australia. These wins endorse Integ’s belief that mid-sized companies are driving IP telephony uptake in Australia.

The contracts are for complete communication solutions comprising IP telephony networks and advanced communications applications along with design, project management, deployment, training and ongoing support.

“Over the last six months we’ve noticed an increased demand for new IP telephony rollouts, from mid sized organisations” says Ian Poole, CEO, Integ. “We are talking to a number of businesses about making the transition to IP telephony and a large proportion of these fall into the mid-sized category”.

IT Analyst Gartner endorses this view: ‘Mid-sized companies are well-represented in the adoption of IP telephony in Australia” says Geoff Johnson, Vice-President Research, Gartner. “Some 12% of local organisations replace their telephony systems each year as they move to new buildings, run out of capacity, find that their PABX is no longer well-supported or for amortisation reasons. Today, the new systems are either IP-enabled to preserve investment in existing PABX or pure IP telephony. We have moved into the rapid adoption phase for IP telephony. Mid-sized companies are gaining benefits from reduced call charges between branches, easier administration of telephony assets and a range of client care and contact centre phone applications that is improving customer service and driving efficiency. The question is no longer “should we migrate to IP telephony” but “when should we migrate and how can we manage the migration”.

Integ was selected by Manchester Unity following its implementation of a new CRM system. According to Dr David Musgrave, CIO, Manchester Unity, IP telephony was the only technology that had the associated applications to allow staff to maximize the CRM system. “We knew IP telephony was the right technology for us. We were moving to a new site, so infrastructure savings were an important consideration. However, we felt that migrating to IP is a strategic decision that adds value to our business because the unified communications applications that Integ provide ensure our staff have complete access to CRM data, wherever they are”.

Mission Australia selected an IP telephony and unified communications solution from Integ, for its IT&T Services office. The contract was awarded in line with a decision to implement IP telephony in its busy call centre to meet the dynamic needs of a national service desk supporting over 2500 people.
