<p>Taiwan’s Chunghwa Telecom selects Alcatel to supply 870,000 ADSL2plus lines</p>
<p>One of the world’s largest single ADSL2plus orders</p>
<p>Paris, 16 June 2005 – Alcatel (Paris: CGEP.PA and NYSE: ALA) announced today that it has been awarded a contract by Chunghwa Telecom, Taiwan’s largest telecommunication service provider, as sole supplier for 870,000 ADSL2plus lines for the delivery of higher-bandwidth broadband services across Taiwan. This deal is one of the world’s largest single ADSL2plus orders to date.</p>
<p>The winning broadband access solution is comprised of the Alcatel 7302 Intelligent Services Access Manager (ISAM) and the Alcatel 7324 Remote Unit, as well as ADSL2plus modems. The equipment delivery will begin in September 2005.</p>
<p>The ADSL2plus ISAM solution will allow Chunghwa Telecom to extend their Multimedia on Demand (MOD) program towards a full fledged triple play service offering, by combining the higher bandwidth of ADSL2plus with the wire-speed non-blocking architecture and advanced processing and IP functionalities of the 7302 ISAM. Chunghwa Telecom’s MOD service today includes user-centric applications such as Video-On-Demand, Karaoke-on-Demand, and an Electronic Program Guide for broadcast TV.</p>

<p>The Alcatel ISAM family is the industry's first IP-based broadband access solution capable of delivering 100% user-centric triple play services. It supports the exploding demand for innovative bandwidth hungry applications, such as video on demand, HDTV and broadcast TV services for all subscribers simultaneously. It will serve as a flexible and reliable platform for Chunghwa Telecom to deliver MOD services in addition to its existing voice and data services.</p>

The company today received the Asia Pacific Broadband Equipment Vendor of the Year 2005 Award from Frost &amp; Sullivan, a global consulting company. According to data from the Dell'Oro Group at the end of 2004, Alcatel achieved a 22.7% share of all DSL lines shipped in the Asia Pacific region. <p>Alcatel Named Asia Pacific Broadband Equipment Vendor of the Year 2005</p>
<p>Shanghai, 16 June 2005 – Alcatel (Paris: CGEP.PA and NYSE: ALA) today announced that it has been conferred the Frost &amp; Sullivan Asia Pacific Technology Award for Broadband Equipment Vendor of the Year 2005. The award came as part of the annual initiative by global growth consulting company Frost &amp; Sullivan to recognise outstanding performance by Asia Pacific companies in the area of Information and Communications Technology (ICT).</p>
<p>Alcatel was selected based on its strong performance in 2004 including outstanding growth in revenues, growth in total broadband lines shipped, total number of customers in Asia Pacific and brand equity.</p>

<p>The recipients of the Frost &amp; Sullivan Asia Pacific Technology Awards 2005 were determined by an independent panel of judges comprising key personalities from Asia Pacific’s telecommunications industry, as well as the media. Recipients were measured based on actual market performance parameters for financial year 2004.</p>
<p>This recognition was conferred at an award presentation ceremony held on June 15, 2005, in Singapore, with the presence of Dr Balaji Sadasivan, Senior Minister of State for Information, Communications and the Arts, and Health, Singapore.</p>
