Veritas newest ISV to participate in OSDL initiatives

Veritas Software on Wednesday announced that the company has joined the Open Source Development Labs (OSDL) and will participate in its Data Center Workgroup. By participating in OSDL, Veritas is furthering its Linux commitments to customers, and accelerating the process of making Linux enterprise-ready.

Veritas, a provider of software that aims to enable utility computing, has been progressively expanding its Linux product portfolio. It now includes: data protection, high availability, storage management, server automation and application performance management software. In doing so, Veritas is continually delivering greater enterprise capability to Linux, and driving down the overall cost of ICT management.

"We are thrilled about joining OSDL, and participating in its initiatives to promote Linux as an enterprise-class operating system. We view Linux as a strategic platform with immense potential in the enterprise," says Mark Bregman, executive vice-president, product operations, at Veritas. "Veritas is committed to being an active participant of OSDL, and offering our expertise in software to enable utility computing across Linux data center environments."

"Linux use in enterprise data centers is growing quickly, and we are pleased to have an ISV like Veritas join and participate in our working groups, to help us to accelerate the adoption of Linux in the USA and around the world," says Stuart Cohen, CEO of OSDL. "The commitment of global companies like Veritas, bringing its expertise and technology leadership to Linux, is the latest demonstration of the momentum for Linux in the enterprise."
