Alcatel broadens telephony offerings with five new business phones aimed at meeting diverse needs of enterprise users

Sydney, 28 April 2005 – Alcatel (Paris: CGEP.PA AND NYSE: ALA) today announced the availability of five new professional phones, significantly broadening its industry-leading enterprise telephony portfolio. Taking a user-centric approach, Alcatel’s new business phones are designed to meet the needs of a wide range of business users to increase employee productivity and improve the overall communications experience through new and innovative applications.

Alcatel’s new range of phones – spanning both IP and traditional TDM environments – provides models that are optimised to address all types of user profiles: from low to high traffic users, from on-campus to mobile to executive users, and from individual to teamwork-oriented, collaborative users. All of the new phones provide a common graphical display, a user-friendly ergonomic design, and outstanding sound quality.

Alcatel is expanding its range of award-winning IP phones, adding two new models to the existing Alcatel 4038 IP Touch and the Alcatel 4068 IP Touch high-end phones. Alcatel now offers the Alcatel 4018 IP Touch for entry-level IP telephony users and the Alcatel 4028 IP Touch for mid-range IP telephony users. With an open approach based on voice XML standards, Alcatel’s IP telephony offerings provide easy access to a wide range of communication services for employees, including unified communications and customised business applications. Examples of applications that can run on the Alcatel IP Touch phone include personal assistant and routing services, meeting and conference room management, building security services, and hotel management applications.

Alcatel also is delivering three new models for traditional TDM phone environments: the Alcatel 4019 for the entry-level user, the Alcatel 4029 for the mid-range user, and the Alcatel 4039 for the high-end, advanced user. These new TDM offerings compliment the Alcatel Reflexes family of phones, allowing enterprises to protect previous telephony infrastructure investments.

“Expanding our range of enterprise telephony offering supports our strategy to deliver enterprises with a variety of choices to meet their communications needs, while protecting previous investments,” said Jean-Luc Fourniou, Senior Vice President, Alcatel Enterprise Solutions activities. “In addition, our Alcatel IP Touch models are changing the ways businesses approach telephony, driving the adoption of new and innovative communications applications that deliver user-centric capabilities and improve business processes.”

Alcatel’s new business phones are available today from Alcatel resellers worldwide.
