Vacancies rise for ICT jobs

Vacancies for ICT jobs rose only 0.8 percent in May, but overall vacancies in this sector have increased a whopping 68.9 percent over the last 12 months.

According to the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR) skills index released today vacancies for skilled workers slipped 0.4 per cent in May but were 7.6 per cent higher than the same time last year.

The official figures show skilled vacancies fell in May in a number of occupational groups but ICT vacancies are definitely on the rise.

For example, the biggest falls in vacancies for the month were for medical and science jobs (down 5.5 percent) but the biggest rise was in ICT (up 7.1 percent).
