PM's office names security gateway supplier

The Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet has selected Macquarie Corporate Telecommunications for its IT security and Internet gateway services.

Macquarie, with its partner LogicaCMG, will provide a secure Internet gateway, virus and content filtering, spam filtering, secure firewall gateway services, 24x7 help desk and secure Web hosting for its Web sites.

The services, such as configuration and support for onsite firewalls, will be provided through Macquarie's hosting facility, Intellicentre.

The tender called for a DSD certified gateway to provide a secure hosting environment for all of these areas.

Macquarie Corporate Telecommunications general manager of hosting and data solutions Glen Noble said DSD Gateway certification has become a mandatory requirement in tenders.

Since gaining certification eight months ago, Macquarie has worked with a number of federal government departments to deliver security solutions.

“Protecting information is critical to any organisational strategy as the process of government or business operations could be severely disrupted by unforeseen events or malicious attacks,” LogicaCMG managing director Bill Richards said.

He said the company's security experts will be working closely with Macquarie and the department’s IT team to ensure its Internet gateway remains secure whether it is accessed from within its offices or remotely.
