M6 Programs FalconStor for Centralised Storage and Business Continuity

Leading European Television Network Selects IPStor for Consolidated Storage Management, High Data Availability, and Increased Storage Efficiency

Sydney, Australia – November 23, 2004 - FalconStor Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: FALC), a leading developer of network storage infrastructure software solutions, today announced that M6, Europe's advanced television network, implemented FalconStor's IPStor® Enterprise Edition software to optimise storage management costs, increase data availability, and maximise storage efficiency by centralising administration of its storage resources.

Transitioning M6's storage environment from direct-attached storage to a storage area network during deployment of IPStor led to significant improvements in the backup process, and enabled storage administration to be achieved from a centralised location. IPStor is aggregating and provisioning storage resources as block-based storage over a Fibre Channel SAN, optimising the television network's usage of available storage capacity.

"Our storage needs grew in tandem with our television network, and management of our DAS environment became challenging and a strain on our IT resources," said Frédéric Mai, IT manager at M6. "We were searching for a solution to combine our disparate storage resources, to provision storage capacity according to actual needs, and to provide high data availability for our application databases. IPStor has enormously relieved the burden on our IT administrators while minimising downtime for major systems critical to our operations."

At M6, IPStor servers are configured in an active-active failover mode at the primary data centre for high availability, with DynaPath® agents to further ensure data availability by creating parallel active storage paths that transparently reroute server traffic without interruption, in the event of a storage network problem. Other IPStor storage services utilised by M6 include storage consolidation, aggregating and provisioning, and TimeMark®, to ensure transactional integrity and point-in-time consistency of the company's Sybase, Oracle, and SQL applications during data replication.

"Resilient, scalable, and flexible storage infrastructures are indispensable for media outlets such as M6 to protect their high-volume, data-intense operations," said Vincent Pajot, regional sales director for FalconStor. "Their choice of IPStor for high performance and protection of their databases is a strong indication of FalconStor's abilities to serve the television industry."

IPStor software delivers an intelligent SAN/NAS infrastructure across heterogeneous environments by providing a comprehensive set of storage services for enterprise applications - simplifying management, ensuring data availability and recoverability, and optimising I/O performance.
