Siebel Systems Inc. and NCR Corp.'s Teradata division said Tuesday they are deepening their existing alliance and optimizing Siebel's analytics software for use with Teradata's data warehouse.
Siebel's 150 analytics applications will generate Teradata-specific SQL, allowing customers to mine data from Teradata's warehouse more easily, and in greater detail, executives said. The integration is now available to initial customers and will be generally available in the third quarter, according to Siebel.
Also in the third quarter, the companies plan to release an integration methodology for connecting Teradata's industry-specific data models with Siebel's analytics software. Teradata's models are available for industries including financial services, retail, travel, manufacturing and health care.
"Customer demand was the thing that really brought the two of us together," Teradata Chief Marketing Officer Bob Fair said in a conference call with reporters.
Executives said Siebel and Teradata's shared customers include the Royal Bank of Canada, which supports thousands of Siebel Analytics users mining a 14T-byte Teradata warehouse, and the Union Pacific Railroad (a Union Pacific Corp. unit), which supports 4,000 users on hundreds of analytics applications.
