Business intelligence software maker Information Builders is trying to spread reporting to the masses.
The New York-based company yesterday announced WebFocus Quick Query, an ad hoc reporting tool for business users who lack specialized IT training.
Information Builders will offer the tool on an unlimited user basis, as opposed to using a named user license, which it used to do for its ad hoc report software, the company said in a statement.
With simple drag-and-drop tools, end users can create reports in a variety of formats, including HTML, Excel 2000 and PDF. The user can also customize the look of the reports and add things such as a corporate logo. The finished reports can then be broadcast via printers, e-mail and fax.
"This product now allows multiple levels of users to get quick answers to their queries, without all the sophisticated features of full ad hoc reporting," said Gerald Cohen, CEO of Information Builders.
The product is available now.
