IBM buys local arm of Logicalis Group

IBM as acquired the Australian and New Zealand operations of network services integrator Logicalis Group for $88.5 million.

Logicalis Australia and New Zealand forms part of the Logicalis Group Ltd which is a subsidiary of Datatec Ltd.

IBM Global Services general manager Brendon Riley said the acquisition enhances its ability to deliver business value to clients of all sizes.

"The acquisition of Logicalis enhances IBM's capabilities in network consulting and integration in Australia and New Zealand, an area our clients have identified as fertile ground for business transformation projects," Riley said.

Logicalis Australia and New Zealand, which trades in New Zealand as Logical CSI, operates in professional services, IT network integration and integration services for next generation technologies, including IP (Internet protocol) telephony and voice over IP solutions and employs more than 1000 staff worldwide.

According to an IBM statement, Logicalis employees and operations in Australia and New Zealand will join IBM Global Services. It has operated in the Pacific region since 1981, Logicalis is one of Australia's largest systems and network technology integrators.

With its international headquarters in the UK, Logicalis Group has revenues in excess of $US400 million from operations in nine countries.
