Vic government shortlists Rosetta tenderers

The Victorian government has shortlisted IBM and Novell from tenderers for Project Rosetta, an ICT initiative to connect directories across the state's government.

Project Rosetta, which began in 2002, was initiated to let the Victorian government unlock the capability of its directories, extend their functionality and help deliver valuable connections between government, business and citizens.

The directory infrastructure aims to produce significant gains in security, efficiency and effectiveness of current directory infrastructure across departments and agencies, and will be a platform for other e-government initiatives over the next three to five years.

The project will reduce the burden created by steady growth in the number of directories and the data they hold, across government over the past few years.
