IT skills shortage hits APEC agenda

A global shortage of IT skills is high on the agenda for this week's meeting of technology and science ministers from Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation countries.

Science Minister Peter McGauran is leading Australia's delegation at the meeting, which is being held in Christchurch on New Zealand's south island Thursday and Friday.

Ministers attending the meeting will have the chance to assess capacity-building initiatives and ways to improve the IT and science skills of people across the Asia-Pacific region, a spokesman said.
