NetComm signs exclusive ADSL deal with WestNet

 • 16 March, 2004 16:03

PERTH, March 16, 2004 - NetComm has been chosen by national ISP WestNet as the exclusive supplier of equipment for its ADSL customers. The directors of NetComm expect that the deal will boost the company's sales by around $3 million over three years.

"WestNet is a major win for NetComm, affirming our position as the leading supplier of broadband solutions to Australian ISPs," NetComm managing director David Stewart said.

WestNet currently has more than 50,000 business and residential customers.

Company managing director Peter Brown said: "We are experiencing rapid growth in our national ADSL market and we are well and truly on course to meet our aggressive growth targets."

NetComm's broadband solution was chosen by WestNet for offering the lowest overall cost. The company's ADSL products feature unique, locally designed software tools for speeding up and simplifying configuration, significantly reducing after sales support costs.

"As a result of the deal with Netcomm we have been able to achieve greater efficiency in providing hardware and associated support to our members" Mr Brown said.

U.S research group IDC recently predicted that there will be close to 3 million broadband subscribers in Australia by 2007, or around 13 percent of the population.

The directors of NetComm believe that the recent lowering of entry-level pricing for ADSL services will significantly increase demand for broadband and broadband related equipment.

"With most Australian business and home users easily able to afford genuine high-speed Internet, we expect to see a marked increase in sales of equipment and applications to exploit this new technology," Mr Stewart said.
