Unisys has appointed Dr Michael Lisle-Williams as managing partner for public sector to help expand the company's IT service and solution portfolio to government.
Lisle-Williams is an industry veteran with more than 25 years experience in strategic planning, consulting and managing large government-led IT projects. He is a former regional vice president for EDS' government business, a senior partner with Accenture and a partner with Arthur Young and Deloitte Consulting.
In his new role he will lead Unisys' public sector practice in Australia and New Zealand, managing delivery of a wide range of services and projects and developing relationships with key accounts and partners, company officials said.
Lisle-Williams said he would also work with government departments to transfer Unisys' knowledge and skills to the public sector workforce.
"Governments can lead the way in…re-skilling and re-training public sector employees - both young and old - especially at a time when many services jobs are moving offshore," he said.
Lisle-Williams also worked for the Western Australian gvernment in the 1980s as chief of staff to the then Deputy Premier of Western Australia, where he helped to establish Australia's first technology park, Western Australia's Technology Development Authority, and Australia's first Department of Computing and Information Technology.
