SYDNEY—Jan. 22, 2004—FileNet Corporation, the leading provider of Enterprise Content Management (ECM) solutions, today announced support for Linux, the fast-growing open standards-based operating system.
General availability of FileNet P8 product offerings on the enterprise editions of SuSE and Red Hat Linux, starting with support for the first components on the Web application layer, is scheduled for early this year. FileNet’s support of Linux enables organisations to leverage the return on investment of FileNet’s market-leading ECM capabilities with the flexibility of Linux.
Offering flexibility and scalability to support a wide variety of deployment scenarios and existing system infrastructures with lower total operating costs, Linux use is gaining ground within business enterprises and government agencies. FileNet’s Linux support is aimed at aligning with today’s customer requirements, which are focused on Web servers and Web application servers, where Linux is dominating the market.
“Customers using FileNet ECM to improve business efficiency and gain greater control over the business processes and related content that drives their business will be able to take advantage of open source Linux for lower costs and greater scalability where and when it makes sense for their business,” said James Rae, FileNet ‘s Managing Director, Australia and New Zealand. “Our support for Linux demonstrates FileNet’s commitment to deliver broad platform support and freedom of choice for our customers.”
More than 4,000 organisations around the globe have chosen FileNet ECM solutions which are designed to help organisations make better, faster decisions by managing the business processes and associated content that drive their businesses.
“Content-oriented architectures are enabling companies to break down traditional information and deliver real-time business intelligence for more efficient operations,” said Rae. “We believe FileNet’s modular ECM suite architecture and the concept of open standards are a natural fit. This allows organizations to extend solutions across disparate hardware platforms for greater interoperability, simplified implementation, and reduced costs. We believe combining FileNet ECM with Linux delivers substantial ROI to customers and allows our solutions to scale and meet new and emerging deployment scenarios.”
