Fujitsu expands VoIP options for Coral FlexiCom customers

 • 24 September, 2003 09:43

Wednesday 24 September 2003. Sydney…. Fujitsu Australia today announced the availability of VoIP enhancements for the Coral FlexiCom corporate telephony platform. These upgrades deliver compelling new options for growing enterprises seeking full-featured Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) solutions to reduce telephony charges and deliver advanced user and network features.

The latest additions extend the functionality of Coral FlexiCom, a leading PBX solution used by hundreds of enterprises with tens of thousands of equipped ends across Australia and New Zealand. Distributed and supported by Fujitsu, Coral FlexiCom now provides an easy migration path that allows fast-growing medium-sized organisations to deploy VoIP features on demand.

“Dynamic and geographically dispersed modern businesses are looking to converge their voice and data networks to control the cost of internal and external telecommunications, adding and moving facilities, and connecting remote workers to the corporate telephone grid,” said Mike Montgomery, Manager Voice Solutions, Fujitsu Australia Limited.

“Fujitsu’s suite of VoIP solutions allows growing companies to transition their new or existing Coral FlexiCom communications platform all at once or incrementally as the business expands. This ensures customers can operate a truly converged data and voice network while continuing to enjoy the flexibility, reliability and scalability benefits of Coral FlexiCom.”

Today’s announcement includes the advanced Coral FlexSet-IP handset, Coral Flex IP Soft Phone, the Coral IPx rack-mounted VoIP server and the Universal Gateway IP card for linking multiple offices via IP connections.

Featuring a stylish contemporary design, the Coral FlexSet-IP handset is an advanced Internet-enabled digital phone suitable for any corporate or home office environment connected to a converged corporate network. The Coral FlexSet-IP handset features a clear LCD display and an intuitive programmable user interface that helps users make the most of sophisticated IP-enabled network features. Moreover, its standard RJ-45 plug removes the restrictions of proprietary phone wiring, ensuring phones can be easily added or moved simply by changing the LAN/WAN port connection. The Coral Flex IP Soft Phone is an option to the Coral FlexSet IP handset and can be used on laptops and desktops. It’s ideal for a mobile workforce that needs to remain part of the corporate phone system.

The Coral Universal Gateway (UGW) is an internal gateway for IP phones and trunk lines. Supporting up to 120 ports per card, the UGW provides full Coral FlexiCom PBX functionality for every Coral FlexSet-IP user. Multiple UGW cards can be deployed within a single Coral FlexiCom server, with load balancing, peer-to-peer communications and redundancy features ensuring high performance and reliability.

“Delivering a VoIP migration path is an important step to protect the investment our customers have made in Coral FlexiCom telephone systems. It enables organisations to attain the benefits of VoIP – including reduced toll calling, virtual call centres and more sophisticated network-driven functionality – without the expense of wholesale change,” Mr Montgomery said.

Similarly, smaller organisations looking to increase their capacity beyond the limits of keyphone systems will find Coral FlexiCom an ideal platform. It delivers flexibility, reliability and scalability to accommodate the needs of dynamic organisations. VoIP with Coral FlexiCom represents the logical choice as businesses expand across multiple sites or upgrade sales operations into dedicated call centres.

“Evolving to VoIP with Coral FlexiCom and Fujitsu is the best way forward for growing enterprises,” Mr Montgomery said.
