Business applications company PeopleSoft has opened a global support centre (GSC) in suburban Sydney to serve as the regional headquarters for support services for customers in the Asia-Pacific region.
The $10 million support centre, for which 65 people were appointed, will provide support services to customers in the region, Tom Shields, PeopleSoft vice president of products and technologies for Asia Pacific, told Computerworld. It is based at the company's Japan and Asia-Pacific headquarters in Chatswood, on Sydney's north shore, and will cover Asean region customers as well as those in Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, India and North America.
The centre replaces the vendor's previous regional support team and the company's consulting organisation. "With the GSC, now we can free up those resources," Shields said.
The GSC team was drawn from various parts of the business; some are existing support staff and others are from PeopleSoft's consulting and development groups. Some are also from the vendor's partner community, with deep experience in implementing PeopleSoft solutions such as CRM, HR, financials, supply chain, student administration and analytics, as well as PeopleSoft competitors' solutions, according to Shields.
The support team will help customers with 'how to', product enquiries and troubleshooting.
Shields said the team will work with other PeopleSoft hubs worldwide including Amsterdam, Sao Paulo, Vancouver and California to enhance the company's follow-the-sun support facility.
