No surprises at Linux Australia election

Current Linux Australia president Pia Smith has been returned to the top position for a second year in a row, following the election of the organisation's committee members on Thursday.

The committee was voted in at the organisation's annual general meeting, held at the Linux.conf.au conference in Adelaide.

Current vice president Stewart Smith (of Victoria) was re-elected to the VP position for 2004, while secretary Andrew Cowie (from NSW) also retained his role for another year.

Other individuals elected to the Linux Australia committee include Western Australia's Mark Tearle (treasurer), Paul "Rusty" Russell, Michael Davies and Michael Still (ordinary members).

Newly elected ordinary committee member and one of the organisers of the 2004 Linux.conf.au Michael Davies said it was good to see three of the top four positions returned for 2004.

"It's good to have the stability of those three positions returned this year," he said.
