IBM Australia's focus on service business has triumphed with the announcement of record annual revenue of $2.8 billion.
The 26 per cent increase is a consequence of IBM's involvement in the service industry and the flourishing e-business and Internet market, claims Robert Savage, IBM Australia's managing director and CEO. "Our services business is a key focus area and in Australia our success has been in part due to our ability to match customers' strategic outsourcing and services needs with cost-effective solutions," asserts Savage.
Of course IBM Australia still relies on the traditional hardware component of its business to rake in the dollars and it did not disappoint this year with exports up 7 per cent from last year.
However, Savage is anticipating that IBM will continue to focus on the development of its software and services market, a segment of business that is growing at a much faster rate than any other.
