Distribution arrangements for Creative Technology multi-media products in Australia are set to be revised following the decision by the Singapore head-quartered vendor to establish a new subsidiary in Australia.
And according to the general duties manager of Creative Labs Pty Ltd Nick Angelucci, the new subsidiary is in the process of setting up its own technical support team. Angelucci, a former staffer of current exclusive distributor Creative Pacific, and Creative Labs' first employee, claimed that they will be providing phone support by mid January and full technical support by February. Fueling speculation that there would be a change to the distribution arrangements for Creative Technology's products, he added that Creative Pacific was the exclusive distributor until February 8, the official launch date of the new subsidiary's operations. It is anticipated that Creative Labs will be headed up by its Singapore-based Australian country manager Dominic Neo.
When ARN LiveWire contacted Kamil Gurgen, Creative Pacific's national marketing manager, he insisted there was no change to the current support arrangements. "We're still ordering and stocking Creative product," he said. But he indicated that a change in the business was imminent. "We will be making an announcement in the new year," he eventually conceded.
Creative Technology products include the Blaster range of multi-media PCs and devices including sound and graphics cards, CD-ReWritables, DVD and WebCams.
