Problems with the Commonwealth Bank's nation-wide network recently were due to human error, according to a bank spokesman.
The CBA's call centre, ATM machines and Eftpos service across Australia experienced difficulties on Saturday, September 18, as a result of the problems.
Brian Fitzgerald, CBA's media liaison, told ComputerWorld the bank's Eftpos system went down for three hours.
Fitzgerald said most transactions were unaffected and no major business losses were reported.
While some organisations could process transactions electronically, others had to use manual processes, Fitzgerald said.
According to Fitzgerald, a scheduling error by a network operator caused the problem.
"The problem was fixed as soon as we found it. The network was back up and operating within three hours," Fitzgerald said.
