Hewlett-Packard is expected to announce today it will resell storage equipment from Hitachi Data Systems, a deal that could alter HP's existing relationship with EMC.
The agreement is an effort to bolster HP's efforts in the storage market. Last year, HP sold more than $US700 million of EMC equipment. The two companies extended their relationship for another three years in January.
EMC officials say the company is prepared for the HP/HDS alliance, and it has increased its sales force in recent months.
HP will reveal local details of the alliance later today.
