Global One yesterday announced plans to use Siemens and Newbridge Networks for the ongoing development of the joint-venture carrier's global ATM backbone network.
The five-year agreement between Global One and Siemens covers the supply and support of Newbridge MainStreetXpress switches.
Global One is a worldwide joint venture of Deutsche Telekom, France Telecom and Sprint.
The companies report the extended backbone network is designed to provide business users in North America, Europe and Asia with faster data transport speeds.
The first stage is to link "key business centre cities worldwide", in a project implemented and managed by Global One, the companies report.
