Telstra is believed to be in discussions with Oracle for a substantial deal that would bring internet access to every television set in Australia.
Oracle has developed applications that would provide interaction between the viewer and the content. For instance, a viewer could click an icon during a sports match to see the latest statistics of the game. The technology would also have implications for advertising; for example, viewers ordering products online during a commercial.
It is believed Telstra would provide the function via its Big Pond service.
