A e-commerce marketplace, or hub, designed to facilitate business-to-business transactions, has been announced for the Australian market.
Cable & Wireless Optus, PeopleSoft and Commerce One yesterday announced an alliance that they say will link thousands of buyers and sellers.
The partnership will host transactions through PeopleSoft's eProcurement application, CWO's MarketSite and Commerce One's Global Trading Web.
The Global Trading Web will link with a global network of MarketSite portals, including sites in the US, UK, Japan and Singapore.
The MarketSite for Australasia will be operated by Cable & Wireless Optus and will be fully operational by March 2000.
"This is much more than an e-procurement solution. This is a true e-commerce marketplace which will provide access and service to thousands of buyers and sellers through a personalised portal," said Andrew Barlkla, PeopleSoft's Asia Pacific regional vice president.
'The alliance between Commerce One, PeopleSoft and Cable & Wireless Optus will create a global infrastructure for business-to-business buying and selling over the Internet enabling organisations to streamline their vendor relationships and significantly lower costs throughout the enterprise,' Barkla said.
