Nortel Networks has presented three new products to support its vision for unified network management - Optivity NMS 9.0, Optivity VPN Manager and Web PocketProbe.
Optivity NMS incorporates Java, Internet technologies and workflow, and allows the addition of hardware devices and management applications without the need for recompiling software.
Optivity VPN (OVM) integrates with Optivity Network Configuration System 2.0 to provide virtual private network management.
And Web PocketProbe allows for Web-based service level management, offering fault detection, prevention and network performance monitoring.
Nortel claims that, combined, the products offer enterprises the ability to manage voice and data networks as a unified system through application and service level monitoring and management, and simplified integration of LAN and WAN network management.
Unified network management is the first phase of a three-phase strategy for which Nortel will roll out products over the next two years, with the aim of delivering unified networks for e-business.
