Equant wins global project with Japanese trading company

Equant has been selected by Tomen Corp, a leading Japanese trading company, to provide data networking services to more than 24 countries worldwide including Australia.

According to officials, Equant will provide frame relay services to support Tomen's global e-mail and corporate intranet applications across Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia, France Italy, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.

Equant is understood to have been selected for the project over another global alliance which fails to provider end-end services, officials said.

Work is expected to be completed by July this year.

According to officials, Tomen is currently using Equant's remote dial-in service worldwide and Equant's frame relay service in North America, Latin America, Asia and Europe. Tomen plans to continue using these service to connect offices around the world.
