Online advertising and sponsorship opportunities for Sydney 2000 Olympic sponsors and Web-based companies will hit the official Olympic Games Web site for the first time in history.
Today, almost one year out from the Games, the Sydney Organising Committee for the Olympic Games (SOCOG) and technology sponsor IBM launched the new look Web site at http://www.sydney.olympic.orgThe Official Sydney 2000 Olympic Games Web site is a collaboration between SOCOG and IBM. Interactive advertising and marketing companies, Phase2Media and BMCMedia.com have been enlisted to market the site to official Olympic sponsors, who will have the opportunity for banner presence, sponsorship with site content, e-commerce opportunities and research support.
Phase2Media will represent the Website in the United States, Europe and Latin America and BMCMedia,com will represent it in Australia and Asia Pacific.
Officials said Internet-based companies not already involved in the Games as official sponsors would have the opportunity to cash in on the event through a tender process. These includes companies such as online book, music and flower stores and online search and auction businesses.
In terms of Olympic Games content, the Website will provide fans with real-time results from every event, virtual tours of Sydney, information about each sport, athlete, and Olympic venue and the opportunity to purchase limited edition Games merchandise and tickets online.
