Equant and Connect.com to build extranet

Global network provider, Equant has partnered with internet service provider, Connect.com to build an extranet for the Australian automotive industry, the companies announced yesterday.

The pilot extranet will be called the Australian Network eXchange (AANX) and will be based on IP technologies.

According to officials, the network is designed to enable automotive companies throughout the world to work together using applications including CAD file design and transfer, web-based EDI, financial transacations, logistics, inventory warehousing and fulfilment.

Equant announced earlier this year it plans to build a specialised global network for the automotive industry spanning North America, Australian, Asia and Europe.
