IBM Global Services Australia (IBM GSA) and Intentia Australia have signed a strategic alliance to market and implement the latter's enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, Movex.
In the deal, IBM GSA is building a Movex implementation practice to service Australia and New Zealand and marketing and installing Movex to customers immediately.
According to Sharon Jackson, marketing communications manager, Intentia Australia and New Zealand, IBM GSA and Intentia last year signed similar agreements in the Asian region, specifically in Korea, Japan and Taiwan.
Agreements are yet to be signed in Europe and US, she said.
According to Jackson, IBM GSA and Intentia are hoping to gain customers with operational sites by the fourth quarter.
Jackson said the companies are jointly targeting tier one manufacturing and distribution organisations in Sydney, Melbourne and Auckland.
According to officials, the agreement offers customers both a software and implementation service.
For Intentia, the deal is important in positioning the company for further growth in the region, Steve Ironside, managing director of Intentia Australia/New Zealand, said.
"Both companies have an interest in developing Movex as the leading ERP system in the market," he said.
