WorldxChange Communications retrenched 30 staff from its local office late last month in what Chris Bantoft, acting CEO, has called a "rebalancing exercise".
According to Bantoft, the retrenchments were limited to WorldxChange's Australian operations.
In order to address the rapidly changing market, Worldx-Change has reorganised and "right sized", Bantoft said.
Bantoft said the retrenchments do not represent a complete downsizing of the company that is employing more than 10 new staff.
Rather than working on a direct sales model, Bantoft said the organisation is focusing more on the indirect channel and investing more in areas such as network cost and planning and management.
Bantoft also said the company is continuing its active pursuit of a replacement for former CEO Richard Vincent who was promoted to executive vice president, sales and marketing for WorldxChange USA in May.
