Congratulations to the winners of the MyComputerworld competition. George Mellas, IT manager at Boise Cascade Office Products in Mulgrave, Vic, wins the 1977 bottle of Penfolds Grange Hermitage and Adrian Weiss, PR manager at Hewlett-Packard in Blackburn, Vic, wins the Grand Prize of 1983 Penfolds Grange Hermitage and 1977 Penfolds Yatarna.iHost MeetingPlaceIn a bid to accelerate its share in the application hosting market which is expected to reach $US5.8 billion within two years Oracle this week launched the iHost MeetingPlace for its partners. The site at brings together independent software vendors, application service providers, Internet infrastructure providers and system integrators into an Oracle-based online partner community to locate resources. It is a key element of Oracle's business strategy and while the concept of hosting applications over the Internet is not a new one, a company spokesman said the market is still nascent. The spokesman pointed to a Morgan Stanley Dean Witter survey of 152 CIOs which found that 61 per cent will consider buying software on a rented basis and 26 per cent are ready to do this in a bid to reduce costs.
