Compaq Catches Crooks

Compaq Computer Corp. rolled out software that can be used to detect fraud on fixed and wireless networks.

Compaq Fraud Management System (CFMS), Version 6 will let customers monitor and control fraud - everything from theft of services to unauthorized calling card use - from a single graphical interface.

The software can detect unusual call activity and keep track of blacklisted or stolen equipment. Compaq has also added implementation software and services with CFMS. The software is called Head-Start Solution Set and it includes consulting, design and integration.

Digital initially released CFMS in 1993. CFMS runs on Alpha servers running Tru64 Unix and clients running Windows NT, 95 or 98. Prices are quoted based on customer configuration.
