Site Lets Users Test Software Online

BOSTON (05/16/2000) - Runaware AB, a Stockholm-based startup, has launched a vendor-independent Web site that allows users to test drive software applications over the Internet.

Aimed mainly at professional as well as home users in North America, the site currently offers English-language applications from five vendors, ranging from Corel Corp.'s Draw graphics software and TeamSoft Inc.'s TeamAgenda scheduling application to the Applixware 5.0 office suite for Linux from new Applix Inc. subsidiary VistaSource Inc.

Billing itself as an evaluation service provider, Runaware aims to let users to test full versions of software in an online environment that simulates running the applications locally, the company said in a statement.

The service is free for registered users.
