Symantec scores in Tas schools

Symantec Australia has announced the sale of more than 13,400 Norton AntiVirusCE 7.5 licence seats spanning the entire Tasmanian education market.

Without disclosing financial details of the deal, the company said it is thelargest single sale made to the Department of Education Tasmania. CE 7.5 willbe used to equip the department's Windows 95, 98 and NT server base.

Symantec has also sold 12,000 licence seats of Ghost Enterprise 6.5 to thedepartment to manage IT functions including operating system deployment andsoftware and hardware distribution to reduce total cost of ownership.

The department's IT deputy director, Max Gentle said deploying Ghost 6.5 acrossthe enterprise will reduce the time it takes to complete routine tasks such asinstalling software packages and customising application packages.

Symantec has also announced the sale of 1400 Norton AntiVirus CE 7.5 licenceseats across Tasmania's 34 Catholic and independent schools.
