PKI provider eSign announced Monday it can issue digital certificates based on the Australian Business Number (ABN) and that they can also be used to validate signatures in electronic transactions.
Under the federal government's Gatekeeper strategy, eSign has been accredited as a Registration Authority (RA) as well as a certification authority (CA).
It means the company can provide flexible PKI solutions without the need for a third party RA.
National Office for the Information Economy CEO John Rimmer said full accreditation will boost business-to-government transactions.
"The ability for government agencies and organisations to obtain a range of PKI requirements from one vendor will ensure the availability of secure government services and boost business confidence online," he said.
"The government's Gatekeeper strategy is a global leader in security and will help maintain Australia's top-tier position in the information age."
