The current economic downturn in the IT market is driving the formation of a new Australian-based business focus group, according to PC Users Group president David Diprose.
A drop in the employment market and a series of industry lay-offs, he said, has led to the need for greater networking options.
Diprose said a number of IT managers currently out of work have contacted him and he believes Australia may be in a recession that he estimates could last 12 months.
As a result, he is forming a Business Focus Group (BFG) within the PC Users Group to address the challenges of the current marketplace. The first meeting will be held in June, he said.
In addition to discussions on pricing and the beneficial use of computer systems, Diprose said the group will provide networking opportunities and promote mutual business interests.
