Fujitsu, Caldera sign Linux deal

Caldera Systems yesterday announced a strategic alliance with Fujitsu for the distribution of OpenLinux 2.3 on Fujitsu servers.

Fujitsu will offer Caldera's version of Linux with its graphical installation program, Lizard, in the Pacific Rim market, according to officials.

Fujitsu said it chose Caldera for the alliance over other distributors of the open-source operating system because Caldera specialises in business customers.

The two companies also plan on creating internet appliances and devices together.

Fujitsu is the latest company to offer Linux on its servers. Hewlett-Packard was one of the first major companies to do so, in January.
