Quantum ATL has launched LANvault, a system that, according to the company, provides an alternative to bandwidth-hungry remote back-ups.
The company said the integrated solution for remote sites incorporates three components:a high performance DLTtape library integrated with a dedicated back-up server that plugs into Ethernet. Each back-up appliance is preloaded with Computer Associates' ARCserveIT or Veritas Backup Exec.a central management console provides central command and control of remote sites via a Web-based application that runs on any NT workstation connected to the network. This enables a single administrator to remotely manage back-up software, OS and firmware of all LANvault appliances in the enterprise.a customer service Web portal maintained by ATL Products for LANvault registration, configuration management and communication. The portal provides e-mail alerts to inform administrators when and where upgrades or updates are needed for software, OS or firmware.
