IBM tops local server market

IBM's share in the Australian market for Intel base servers priced at less than $US25,000 has reached an all-time high despite a slowing market.

IDC research results for the first quarter of 2001 show IBM's Intel server market share has grown 76.9 per cent.

IBM has launched its x300 in response to customer demand for a cheaper version of the highly popular xSeries 330. The new eServer x300 includes X-architecture inspired characteristics and advanced features such as IBM Director and Software Rejuvenation, a systems management package that includes advanced self-healing computing tools that can predict and repair software failures before they happen.
