Mobile phone supplier Nokia and systems software vendor BEA Systems have expanded their agreement on wireless e-commerce applications for accessing the Internet over mobile devices, the companies announced yesterday.
The new agreement expands the integration between the Nokia WAP Server and BEA's BEA WebLogic M-Commerce Solution, the companies said in a statement. Furthermore, third-party vendors and developers will have more freedom in personalising the applications for wireless devices using the WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) technology, Nokia and BEA said in a statement.
As part of the initial agreement announced in January, BEA integrated its WebLogic Server with the Nokia WAP Server, allowing software developers to create e-commerce applications for WAP-compliant devices.
The WebLogic M-Commerce Solution will be available from BEA in the second quarter.
