SGI has appointed Bill Trestrail, former national sales manager for SGI Australia, as managing director of SGI Australia and New Zealand. He replaces Greg Sitters, who left SGI to join a startup company elsewhere in the industry.
Trestrail joined SGI in 1995 after holding positions in companies such as Informix Software, Seer Technologies and KPMG Peat Marwick.
"This is a very exciting time to take on the MD role, and I am delighted to have this opportunity to take SGI Australia and New Zealand to greater levels of achievements," Trestrail said.
"We are experiencing good growth in our traditional Unix server and workstation markets and SGI Australia and New Zealand is seeing strong uptake for its high-end virtual reality solutions for commercial and government customers," he said.
"In addition, we are very strong in the areas of Linux and media-rich content creation and delivery systems."
