Nokia to Supply GSM Equipment to Maroc Télécom

BOSTON (05/15/2000) - Nokia Corp. today said it has won an equipment order valued at more than 60 million euros (US$54.7 million) to expand Moroccan mobile phone operator Maroc Télécom's 900MHz GSM (global system for mobile communications) network.

Under the terms of an agreement, Nokia will supply Maroc Télécom with network equipment including base stations and base station controllers as well as a range of services, Nokia said in a statement. Deliveries have already started.

The network expansion is aimed at boosting the Maroc Télécom network's subscriber capacity in the cities of Rabat and Casablanca as well as in northwestern Morocco, Nokia said.

The deal is the fourth GSM supply agreement signed between Nokia and Maroc Télécom since 1995, Nokia said.
