Liikanen Coins Slogan to Boost E-Commerce

BRUSSELS (03/09/2000) - European Information Society Commissioner Erkki Liikanen has come up with a new slogan to illustrate the importance of the Internet for business, his spokesman said today.

The slogan, "B-to-B or not to be," fully reflects the Commissioner's conviction that business-to-business Internet commerce is essential to the competitiveness and very survival of companies today, Per Haugaard said.

Liikanen coined the slogan during a trip to the U.S., where he visited Silicon Valley and Washington D.C., and from which he returned yesterday, Haugaard added.
