Companies offer global online payment system

DXStorm and Planet Group are offering e-commerce sites an integrated software package that can handle onsite orders in multiple currencies and languages.

The combined DXStorm.com and Planet Payment software is available now at a cost of $US595 for a one-time set-up fee, $25 per month and 50 cents per transaction, said Gregory Lowes, president and founder of DXStorm, an application service provider.

Non-US companies will be able to sell products globally and process transactions, avoiding the residency requirements needed to get US dollar merchant accounts. US-based merchants will be able to deal with transactions in 14 currencies besides the US dollar.

DXStorm, in Oakville, Ontario, offers software that supports international taxes and shipping to 250 countries. The company's products further allow merchants the ability to handle e-commerce in any currency or language. Planet Payment, whose parent company Planet Group is based in Tortola, the British Virgin Islands, makes software that allows e-commerce merchants to accept credit cards in nearly any currency.

The two companies decided to pair their wares because "people are looking for simplicity in their Web sites," said Thomas DeLuca, Planet Payment vice president of business development, adding that existing software all has to be purchased separately rather than as a bundle.
