InfoLibria Squashes Its Cache Devices Down

FRAMINGHAM (04/20/2000) - Plans to take the DynaCache20 to a single rack spaceLooking to save rack-space costs for end users, InfoLibria has rolled out DynaCache 10, a device that takes up half as much rack space as the firm's existing DynaCache 20.

For enterprise users paying collocation services to ISPs and application service providers, DynaCache 10's single-slot rack size can save as much as $2,000 per month per unit in a collocation situation, according to Alex Benik, an analyst with The Yankee Group.

Pricing for DynaCache 10, at US$9,995, will be about the same as for DynaCache 20, according to Kevin Lewis, product manager for InfoLibria.

DynaCache devices, like other caching products, are designed to store copies of frequently-accessed Web pages, enabling end users to access the pages from the nearby cache instead of faraway sites. The idea is to reduce response time, conserve wide-area bandwidth and preserve Web server CPU cycles.
