General Electric (GEC), the parent company of Marconi Communications and more recently Fore Systems, is expected to announce new branding and naming over the next month, according to a company official.
The announcements are part of an initiative to define the company in the networking arena and to consolidate recent acquisitions, including the $4.5 billion purchase of Fore Systems, James Blew, public relations manager for Fore Systems said.
Blew said the integration of Fore Systems with GEC subsidiary, Marconi Communications is expected to be complete in around two weeks.
The organisations are currently operating as sister business units, he said.
Once fully integrated, the new organisation will focus on a number of business groups, including optical networking, broadband switching, access products, and narrow band switching products, Blew said.
