Lucent has added another element to its channel strategy with the appointment of Adelaide-based wireless specialist Integrity Data Systems as its master distributor in Australia for that category.
The move underscores Lucent's desire to boost its reseller relations with a view to getting a slice of emerging niche and SME market opportunities.
A press statement from Lucent said the appointment was a "recognition of Integrity's commitment to wireless networking and effectiveness of its reseller channel".
One of Integrity's first challenges will be to help Lucent raise awareness of the ORINOCO brand name which it has chosen to use for its wireless product range formerly carrying the WaveLAN moniker.
Peter Davison, Lucent's ORINOCO account manager, sees channels as vital to its wireless market share growth.
"We are about achieving maximum efficiency in sales and marketing of our superior range of products in all areas of the market," Davison said.
"Integrity will jointly develop new channels for our ever-increasing product range."
