Whitehurst’s compensation climbed just 1% in 2011, but Red Hat made much bigger gains in revenue and income during the same time period. His $7.4 million pay package included a $750,000 salary, $1.1 million bonus, equity awards valued at $5.5 million, and perks worth $5,539. On the sales front, Red Hat’s revenue climbed 22% to $909 million, up from $748 million in 2010. Net income increased 23% to $107 million, compared to $87 million a year earlier.
